M.T.M.T. grew up with violence. She learned early to keep her opinions to herself and not to expect too much, from herself or anyone else. Fast-forward 20 years. Two new babies and a new business broke the fragile peace she had built with her husband. He was used to debate, confrontation, resolution. She gave him silence. Frustration grew on both sides. There was abuse and great emotional pain.
"Jewish Family Services provided low-cost counseling for both of us. I think it was something like $10 a week for each of us back then. We pay $40 now. No place else would even discuss a sliding scale."
